We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team within Vistry South East, at our Caterham office. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor and will assist in the commercial delivery of residential development schemes. Your responsibilities include cost management for development and contracting projects from procurement to the completion of sub-contract final accounts. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role within the region, working for a main contractor or developer.

  • HNC / Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or equivalent
  • Understanding of building regulations and legal obligations
  • Knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Strong mathematical and IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel

  • Negotiating, networking, and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and accept feedback

Desirable qualifications:

  • HND or Degree in Construction
  • Membership or working towards membership of the Chartered Institute of Building or CIPS
  • Knowledge of COINS systems

Key responsibilities:

  • Attend site pre-start meetings and understand construction drawings
  • Assist with tender packages and analyze tenders
  • Issue and manage sub-contract orders and liaise with build teams
  • Provide forecast and budget information to the team
  • Control and report on post-contract costs
  • Process invoices and applications for payments
  • Manage claims, variations, and final accounts
  • Maintain project documentation and systems
  • Participate in health and safety practices and reporting
