Job Description

A client within thePrivate Sector based in Tyne and Wear is currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Capital Projects Delivery team as soon as possible.The client is offering a full-time, permanent position with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a construction or housing environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is toassist in the provision of quantity surveying services under the direction of Directors and senior staff, supporting the delivery of a wide range of construction and capital projects.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Preparing cost estimates, cost plans, interim valuations, and cost/value for money reports
• Providing procurement advice and preparing tender documentation
• Supporting contract administration, cost control, and preparation of final accounts
• Assisting with Employer’s Agent duties including drafting project certification
• Preparing project meeting agendas and minutes
• Undertaking site visits including snagging inspections and handovers
• Assisting in the co-ordination of external consultants and stakeholders

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a construction-related organisation
• Educated to NVQ Level 3 in a construction-related discipline and/or relevant experience
• Strong IT skills, with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience of budgetary control on large projects
• Working knowledge of contractual claims and variations
• Evidence of continued professional development and knowledge of estimating software

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £25,000 - £30,000 per annum.
