Job description

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial and operational aspects of a portfolio of suppliers. You will join our established Commercial Team and work on projects ranging from £25,000 to £200,000,000.

You will ensure Thames Water meets its contractual, legal, and commercial obligations while engaging with senior colleagues such as Senior Management Accountants and Operations Managers.

What you’ll be doing as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor

1. Leading the commercial management of a supplier portfolio under a Schedule of Rates (SoR) contract.
2. Advising project stakeholders on commercial issues.
3. Supporting senior staff in monthly commercial meetings.
4. Reporting the monthly Variance of Work Done (VOWD) to the finance team.
5. Assisting with dispute resolution and contractual claims.
6. Managing assessment and certification of Applications for Payments (AFP).
7. Processing subcontract payments using SAP and Salesforce.

Location: Hybrid role based near your home within the Thames Water area, depending on your location and the closest site.

What you should bring to the role

• Qualification in Quantity Surveying.
• Experience in Quantity Surveying within a commercial environment.
• Experience in Construction Sector Commercial Administration or QS is desirable.
• Experience dealing with suppliers and contractors.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Effective communication skills at all levels.
• Attention to detail and good numeracy skills.
• Excellent written skills.
• Driving license is a plus but not essential.
