The role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. you’ll support the delivery of a Major Infrastructure construction portfolio at Devonport Royal Dockyard. You’ll help drive commercial excellence across a range of civil construction projects, ensuring robust contract administration and cost management.

Day-to-day, you’ll safeguard Babcock’s commercial interests by reviewing contracts, supporting cost planning and subcontract negotiations, monitoring project spend, and ensuring compliance with NEC4 and governance standards—while working closely with stakeholders to enable successful project delivery.

  • Protecting Babcock’s commercial interests by reviewing terms and conditions and supporting subcontract negotiations.
  • Supporting pre-tender estimates, cost planning, and modelling of design and implementation options.
  • Monitoring project costs and reviewing subcontractor claims.
  • Ensuring contract administration aligns with NEC4 requirements and corporate governance.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support project delivery.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential Experience
  • Broad knowledge of building and construction practices.
  • Experience with MOD contracts (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with NEC4 contract frameworks (desirable).
  • Understanding of project management principles.
