Job summary

OCU Group in Nottingham is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team delivering major power infrastructure projects across the UK. You will gain exposure to contract administration, cost reporting, procurement and final account preparation while working with experienced Quantity Surveyors who will support your development.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified, or currently pursuing a degree, in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to learning and professional development.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Previous experience within a commercial, construction, utilities, engineering, or infrastructure environment.
  • Bonus if you have knowledge of NEC contracts or commercial management principles.
  • It would be great if you've completed a placement year, internship, or work experience within Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
  • It would be great if you have experience supporting cost reporting, procurement, or subcontract management activities.
  • Working towards professional accreditation with RICS, CICES, or a similar body would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial management of infrastructure projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with the administration of NEC4 contracts, including Compensation Events and Early Warning Notices.
  • Support the preparation of Applications for Payment and subcontractor assessments.
  • Assist with cost reporting, forecasting, CVRs, and commercial performance monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records, project documentation, and contract files.
  • Support procurement activities and subcontract administration processes.
  • Attend commercial and project meetings, assisting with actions and follow-up activities.
  • Collaborate with project teams, clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

OCU is delivering major power infrastructure projects that are helping to strengthen and modernise the UK's electricity network. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll join an experienced commercial team supporting the successful delivery of National Grid and utility infrastructure projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in commercial management. You'll gain exposure to all aspects of project delivery, from contract administration and cost reporting through to procurement and final account preparation, while working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors who will support your development and progression.
