As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work in our social housing sector, providing a stable and profitable contract, delivering excellent service and support through our local teams who understand the importance of working together for the community.

This role involves working as part of a local team to assist the Commercial & General Manager with commercial control and reporting on high-standard activities related to housing properties, ensuring best practices in commercial acumen, customer service, safety, quality, and cost control.

  • Support and assist in the financial management of the joint venture maintenance contract to meet financial targets.
  • Act as an effective interface with clients, partnering management, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Review, validate, and approve subcontractor quotations and variations in line with pricing agreements (NHF V7.2) to ensure value for money.
  • Agree on subcontractor valuations and payments.
  • Value and measure work according to contractual pricing agreements (NHF V7.2).
  • Identify, generate, and agree on variations with the client.
  • Utilize NHF Schedule of Rates for cost and value assessments.
  • Ensure optimal commercial use of the Asset Management system by adhering to MEARS protocols and processes.

Role Criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a commercial role within the social housing sector, working as a principal or main contractor across Voids & Repairs business streams.
  • Experience with typical pricing agreements and frameworks within a TPC contract, including measuring works and generating applications.
  • Experience reviewing, validating, and approving subcontractor quotations and variations in line with NHF V7.2.
  • Experience managing supply chain partners.
  • Experience in financial reporting and data analysis.
  • Strong numeracy and financial management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in IT, including advanced Excel and Word skills.
