The Company

A market-leading Principal Contractor, known for completing projects for major blue-chip retail clients, is looking to expand its commercial team. With a full order book of asset, fit-out, and refurbishment projects across the food retail sector, the company is now seeking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to deliver these projects nationwide. The Role

Assistant Quantity Surveyor supporting the commercial team in delivering M&E maintenance and small works projects nationwide ranging in value (£10k - £250k).

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you must possess the following:

1. 2+ years' experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor, M&E Contractor or a Fit-Out Contractor
2. Strong knowledge of commercial and construction contracts such as JCT
3. Preferred background in M&E, fit out or commercial construction
4. Knowledge of maintenance and small works projects with values ranging between £10k - £250k
5. Good communicator, able to deal with a range of people, tasks and obligations
6. Well organised, self-starter, able to implement procedures and effectively manage all aspects of the works
7. Commercial knowledge and ability to negotiate terms with a range of parties

Duties

1. Reporting to the Head of Commercial
2. Submission of interim payment applications
3. Preparation of monthly cost and value reconciliation reports / Project cost control
4. Assisting with all commercial aspects of allocated projects
5. Preparation and submission of interim valuations
6. Manage and value variations
7. Attend meetings for the agreement of final accounts
8. Post contract liaison with clients
9. Sub-contract negotiation and letting
10. Joint responsibility of managing contract costs including payments to sub-contractors
11. Assist with the management of contractual documentation and letters / Understanding of sub-contracts
12. Placing sub-contract orders
