Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the Role: A well-established residential developer is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, supporting the delivery of high-quality new-build homes. The successful candidate will work closely with senior surveyors and site teams to ensure cost control, contract management, and procurement processes are efficiently managed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents.
  2. Support the procurement process, including obtaining quotations and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.
  3. Conduct site visits and valuations to assess work progress and financial performance.
  4. Assist in the preparation and submission of interim and final accounts.
  5. Monitor project expenditure and variations to ensure financial control and compliance with contracts.
  6. Collaborate with project managers, site teams, and external stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
  7. Assist in resolving contractual and commercial issues.
  8. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation to support financial claims and project audits.

Requirements:

  1. A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  2. Previous experience in a similar role within the construction or residential development sector is advantageous.
  3. Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
  5. Good communication and negotiation skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  7. Willingness to learn and progress within the business.
