Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Bristol + Taunton & Bridgwater projects

Salary: GBP40,000 to GBP45,000 + car allowance + bonus + package

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - The Company:

Our client is a successful residential builder with an established reputation within the South West market and beyond. Projects include mid to high volume residential developments of 3, 4, and 5-bedroom houses, as well as apartments in both timber frames and traditional build, on open market and social housing projects.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the regional commercial team and advance your career with one of the best employers in the region. You will assist in the day-to-day commercial activities of new build residential developments across two sites in Somerset, reporting to an experienced Senior QS and benefiting from excellent guidance and mentorship.

Typical duties & responsibilities:

• Ensure optimum commercial return for the project.
• Help prepare accurate cost / value reconciliation reports.
• Prepare and agree interim valuations to maximize commercial advantage.
• Assist in final account agreements with subcontractors to maximize project margins.
• Prepare subcontract orders following company procedures and procurement schedules.
• Control subcontractor accounts and minimize variations.
• Manage subcontract valuations and correspondence.
• Perform duties as quantity surveyor on assigned projects.
• Ensure optimal commercial return for projects under your control.
• Prepare or assist with monthly cost / value reconciliation reports.
• Update and record actual valuation against forecasts, including cash flow forecasts at project start.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - The Person:

• At least 12 months of experience with a national or regional house builder or residential main contractor.
• Proven experience working on residential projects.
• Long-term career orientation.

• Commutable between Bridgwater and Taunton.
