Job description

We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic and driven construction consultancy. Join our Private Sector team in Bristol, working on an exciting range of dynamic construction projects from outset to completion.

What does the role involve?

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with us, you will be supporting the Quantity Surveying team on all commercial and financial aspects of construction projects. The role involves working with the Project Team to allow projects be delivered safely on time and to budget whilst ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Support the production of cost plans, option studies, life cycle costing, cash flows and risk registers
  • Conduct project measurements using Cost-X and BIM
  • Assist with market research and supplier quotations for material costs
  • Contribute to benchmarking activities and maintain cost databases
  • Help prepare tender documentation, bills of quantities, and pricing documents
  • Support tender processes, evaluations, and contract negotiations
  • Assist in compiling and managing contract documentation
  • Attend site visits and client/consultant meetings
  • Undertake interim and final valuations and contribute to cost reporting
  • Assist with change control, variation evaluation and final account negotiation
  • Support contract administration and employer’s agent duties
  • Assist with dispute resolution and loss/expense claims
  • Perform compliance checks and adhere to quality assurance procedures
  • Always take personal responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others by working within company H&S procedures
  • Endeavour to improve our social and environmental impact
  • Any other duties as reasonably required
  • Qualified in relevant construction related degree
  • Construction industry and commercial/technical awareness of the construction and quantity surveying processes
  • Achieved or actively working towards Chartership
  • A client-centric outlook, with an ambition to deliver projects meeting client objectives
  • Ability to deliver a small to medium size project with minor support from senior staff
  • Awareness of CDM and construction Health & Safety
  • Experience using CostX
  • Ability to effectively manage own time, tasks and meet deadlines as well as support team member
  • Attention to detail and highly organised
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
