Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Anderselite are currently recruiting on behalf of a tier one contractor for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in Peterborough. Hybrid working is available.

As the new AQS, you'll act as the commercial support to the integrated delivery team, providing support to both the delivery management and on-site delivery teams. Embracing a performance-driven mentality, you'll ensure operations control costs, maximize value, minimize future liabilities, and maintain quality and safety standards.

Additionally, you'll develop soft skills and understand the importance of an efficient and proactive commercial team in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the programme area's Estimating team to ensure robust estimates are provided, aligned with scope, and include allowances for risks and opportunities, including necessary analysis and data transfer to procurement systems.
  • Work closely with the Cost Manager, Procurement team, Construction Manager, and Project Delivery Manager to prepare subcontracts and procurement strategies reflecting the agreed scope.
  • Produce accurate live forecasts considering the programme and report according to the work and cost breakdown structures.
  • Monitor actual costs against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, and final outturn calculations.
  • Provide reports comparing actual costs to estimates, identify reasons for variances, and propose resolutions.
  • Assist the Cost Manager in ensuring all project team members understand contractual arrangements to meet client and partner requirements.
  • Maintain proper records for audits and cost assurance, ensuring financial information is readily available.
About The Candidate

Candidates should be currently studying for or have completed a degree in engineering, management, or a cost discipline, with a passion for a career in a commercial role.

Excellent IT skills, especially in Excel, and strong communication skills are required. The candidate should be proactive, well-organized, and eager to learn to make a positive impact.
