Job description


Psychological Health Services is looking for enthusiastic, ambitious and professional Assistant Psychologists to join psychological services within Psychological Health Services and Paediatric Neuropsychology team.

This position will involve a mixture of direct work with patients and non-patient facing tasks, assisting qualified psychologists in the delivery of psychological services. Duties will include the administration and scoring of standardised psychometric assessments, the collection and inputting of clinical outcome data, dissemination of psychosocial information, maintaining databases, analysing data, and contributing to service development and resource.

· Work in inpatient and outpatient settings with children and adults.

· To undertake protocol based psychological assessment of clients, including neuropsychological, tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.

· Score psychometric measures and/or questionnaires and accurately collate the data into databases for interpretation by qualified clinical psychologists.

· Prepare case history summaries.

· The post holder is required to concentrate intensely for prolonged periods during clinical work. There may be some patients who require assessment who present with confusion, agitation and are high levels of emotion

· To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping to enable qualified colleagues to supervise this work, adhering to documentation standards.

· Maintain clinical and administrative databases.

· Carry out information gathering, evidence-based literature searches and evaluation of literature, researching and producing clinical materials

· Observe all relevant local and national guidelines, standards and policies
