Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a conscientious graduate psychologist to join their prison mental health services, providing specialist psychological therapy.
The Psychological Therapies Teams in prisons are integrated within the mental health team to support a complex population with diverse needs and risks. This role is ideal for individuals interested in clinical and/or forensic psychology or psychological therapies, with some experience in clinical services.
Forensic experience is not mandatory; enthusiasm and teamwork skills are essential.
The post involves working within a multidisciplinary prison mental health team, delivering psychological interventions to young adults in custody, and collaborating with health and operational colleagues. Responsibilities include psychological assessments, psychoeducational workshops, trauma-focused therapies, and involvement in audit and service development.

The role also involves supporting dissemination of psychological practices, supervised assessments, therapeutic interventions, and contributing to audit and research projects. Regular supervision and professional development are integral parts of the role.
Management and leadership responsibilities include supporting service development projects and training colleagues in psychological care.
Clinical duties encompass psychological assessments, formulation of care plans, coordinating therapeutic groups, and supporting multidisciplinary discussions. The role also involves developing psychological frameworks and producing data summaries and user-friendly information.
Research tasks include assisting with audit and research projects, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
Effective communication with team members, other disciplines, and external agencies is vital.
All applicants must be willing to undergo National Security Vetting to work in a prison setting. Pre-employment checks will include vetting through Oxleas and the prison vetting team.
Applicants need to provide proof of right to work, ID, address, and, if applicable, overseas police or good conduct certificates. UK passport holders who have resided abroad for more than six months in the past three years will also need to provide relevant certificates.
