Job summary

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) invites applications for an Assistant Psychologist within the Primary Mental Health Treatment Requirement Team. The role focuses on low-intensity CBT-informed interventions for service users under community-based court orders, with sessions offered in-person, via video, or by telephone.

You will handle referrals, screening, risk assessments, and weekly or fortnightly caseloads, with opportunities to contribute to DBT-informed group

Qualifications

First or upper second-class honours degree in Psychology or related subject.
Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
Post-graduate training in relevant psychology/mental health areas and/or research design and analysis.
Experience with people in mental health who may show hostility or aggression; ability to respond professionally.
Ability to accept and use supervision effectively.
Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients and referrers in reports and letters.
Knowledge of psychology applied to adult mental health and low-intensity interventions.
Interest in developing a career as a professional psychologist and forensic populations.

Responsibilities

Deliver low-intensity psycho-educational interventions for service users under community-based court orders.
Manage referrals admin, including screening, liaising with probation staff, and tracking referral data.
Assess likelihood of benefit and support risk assessments.
Deliver 12-week one-to-one interventions tailored to individual goals.
Support and facilitate the Emotional Coping Skills group (DBT-informed elements).
Audit data and contribute to service evaluations.
