Job description

Our Early Intervention Service provides a three-year service offering assessment, treatment, and support to people experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their families. We also provide a year-long service for people at high risk of developing a first episode of psychosis.

We are seeking a full-time Assistant Psychologist to support our Psychologists, psychological therapists, and multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work closely with Psychologists to provide structured assessments, file reviews, and manualized treatments under supervision to individuals and carers.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting CBT-informed brief interventions under supervision, a strong academic record, excellent communication and IT skills, and the ability to engage positively with people with mental health difficulties and their support networks.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain rapport with clients to enable meetings and engagement in service activities.
  • Carry out specified assessments, including standardized psychometric tests and report preparation.
  • Deliver standardized individual and group psychological interventions under supervision.
  • Provide verbal and written feedback regarding assessments and interventions to clients, team members, and families.
  • Undertake file reviews to support clinical decision-making.
  • Attend psychology and multidisciplinary meetings to share information and convey opinion and analyses.
  • Contribute to risk assessment and management of service users.

The position requires a driving license and use of a car, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other professions to provide holistic care within a biopsychosocial model.
