Assistant Psychologist

ASD/ADHD Assessment Service for Adults

Location: Homebased currently - Birmingham / Soilhull and Surrounding area. Occasional travel to our Northampton site

Salary: £26,586 per annum

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours

St Andrew’s Community Partnerships has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to work within a neurodevelopmental service for adults in partnership with some of our neighbouring Trusts.

St Andrew’s Community Partnerships

St Andrew’s is a charity commissioned by the NHS to provide specialist mental healthcare for people with some of the most complex and challenging mental health needs in the UK. Community Partnerships specialises in developing and delivering community based services for St Andrew’s.

We currently offer a range of services including, a busy private therapy clinic, an Expert Witness Service, Diagnostic Assessment Clinics and student counselling clinics at Universities.

The role and person

Within the role, you will be working alongside qualified psychologists assessing adults for ASD and ADHD, utilising the ADOS 2 and other relevant psychometrics for which full training will be provided. Most of this work will be done online with the possibility of some face to face assessments.

You will be expected to support both the administration and the writing of the clinical report working with a team of clinicians. Therefore, previous ASD/ADHD experience is desirable, however training and supervision will be provided as part of the role.

You will already have a minimum of a 2:1 in a psychology degree. Within the role, you will be working directly under the supervision of qualified psychologists leading the service and will play a key role in managing databases to monitor clinical outcomes and service delivery.

You will also act as a link between the clinicians working within the service and therefore you need to have excellent written and interpersonal communication and organisational skills.

Given the diagnostic focus of the role, previous experience of working with children/adults is desirable but support will be given through clinical supervision to develop in this area. Given the role requires significant responsibility and autonomy, previous experience as an Assistant Psychologist is desirable as well as a demonstrated track record of being able to plan and organise your own time to deliver work according to set deadlines.

The role may requires travel therefore a full, clean driving license and a car is essential to be able to perform the role.
