Assistant Psychologist Children and Parents Service (CAPS)
Assistant Psychologist Children and Parents Service (CAPS)

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to support the Child and Parents (CAPS) Team. This is the under 5s CAMHS provision in Manchester and is an established multi- agency partnership between the NHS, Manchester City council and the voluntary sector. We are multi-disciplinary and the team is staffed by clinical psychologists, specialist health visitors, midwives, parent group leaders and administrators.

As an Assistant Psychologist within the team you will be involved in supporting group delivery, including the analysis of group outcomes; training in our universal offer across the early years sector and assisting in assessments, including observations.

There will be opportunities for shadowing qualified practitioners and psychologists in the team as well as co-working cases with qualified clinicians and providing therapeutic support where appropriate.

Your research and clinical audit skills will also be further developed through this post. You will also have the opportunity to be involved with our children and young people's co-production initiatives, and our social media development. We are in the process of significant expansion and this will be an exciting time to be within early years services in CAMHS

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well established CAMHS under 5s services that is forward thinking, dynamic and offers a wide range of opportunities.

To assist in the design and implementation of audit and research projects;

To undertake data collection, data analysis and the production of reports and summaries to aid service development;

Under supervision, to assist qualified Clinical Psychologists and senior members of the clinical team in implementing psychological interventions. This will include using a variety of assessment procedures to collect relevant data (rating scales, self-report measures etc), analysis of data and undertaking clinical interventions with qualified clinicians, including individual and group interventions;

To assist the group delivery programme. This will include recruiting parents, offering catch up sessions and supporting clinicians to deliver groups.

To assist Clinical Psychologists and other senior clinicians in undertaking teaching and training. This will include the production of relevant literature and contributing to training initiatives under supervision; including assisting in the delivery of our universal training offer across the early years sector

To assist clinical psychologists and other senior clinicians in undertaking clinical research. This will include undertaking literature searches relevant to particular projects and the preparation and presentation of summaries and reports.
