Job description

ARCH (Addictions Recovery Centre Hillingdon) is a well-established partnership service between CNWL and Via. We provide structured treatment and support for people with drug and alcohol difficulties.

RISE (Recovery Interventions Service Ealing) is a well-established partnership service between Change Grow Live, CNWL, and Build on Belief. It offers structured treatment and support for individuals with drug and alcohol issues in Ealing.

To enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service across all sectors of care; responsibilities include data collection, analysis, and assessment under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. The post involves working independently within an agreed plan and the team’s policies.

The role involves participation in clinical governance, utilizing research skills for audits, service development, and research within the multidisciplinary Drug and Alcohol team.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychosocial interventions and workshops for clients referred to the Drug and Alcohol Service, employing techniques such as motivational interviewing, self-report measures, risk assessments, rating scales, observations, and semi-structured interviews with clients and their families.
  • Provide evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to assist clients in overcoming addiction.
  • Work in a highly emotive environment with clients facing substance use problems, communicating sensitive and complex information professionally. Be prepared for potential verbal aggression during sessions.
  • Assist in coordinating and facilitating therapeutic groups under supervision.
  • Perform duty assessments which may include testing bodily fluids, requiring direct contact with urine and saliva.
Management, Recruitment, and Service Development
  • Support the design and implementation of service development projects.
  • Participate in planning and discussion meetings related to service development.
  • Attend and contribute to professional meetings within the Adult Psychology Specialty and other departmental forums.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with service users, their families, friends, and carers, emphasizing multidisciplinary teamwork to deliver seamless care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Research and Clinical Governance)
  1. Utilize evidence-based literature and research to support practice.
  2. Assist in designing and implementing audits and research projects to improve service delivery, including complex evaluations.
  3. Produce questionnaires, manage data collection, analyze data, and prepare reports using IT and statistical software like Microsoft Office and SPSS.
  4. Conduct literature searches to support evidence-based practice within the team.
  5. Engage in practice-based research using validated questionnaires and reflective skills.
