Assistant Psychologist Brain Injury Linkworker (Fixed Term Contract)
Location: HMP Liverpool
Salary: £26,513 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Brain Injury Linkworker in HMP Liverpool.
Our Brain Injury Linkworker, who will be part of the Brainkind Policy & Social Change Team, will work with adult men in prison within the criminal justice system. The project is funded by NHS Health and Justice England to expand the service into seven sites across the Northwest of England. This is a unique role, working across the criminal justice system and Brainkind to provide brain injury screening and support.

The post is ideally suited to an experienced Assistant Psychologist with specialist knowledge of brain injury and experience working with people with complex needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for specialized assessment and support of prisoners with acquired brain injury and undertake data collection for research purposes. The Linkworker will collaborate with prison staff and external organizations to support individuals in accessing services and reducing offending behavior.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work remotely under supervision from a Clinical Psychologist, Project Manager, and Project Support Officer.
- Support and manage a caseload of individuals within the Criminal Justice System who screen positive for a brain injury or have a history of acquired brain injury (ABI).
- Administer the Brain Injury Screening Index (BISI) to identify individuals with ABI and develop an Individual Support Plan (ISP) and release or resettlement plan.
- Ensure each ISP complements existing healthcare and relevant goals.
- Implement and review ISPs with the service user, ensuring their needs and preferences are central.
- Undertake assessments, including psychometric and neuropsychological assessments if needed, develop formulations, and provide interventions as directed.
- Develop and deliver psychosocial interventions on a 1:1 basis focusing on the sequelae of brain injury.
ABOUT YOU:
- An upper second or first class honours degree in psychology.
- Understanding of the needs of individuals with psychological problems or disabilities, including acquired brain injury.
- Experience working with people with complex needs.
- Experience delivering 1:1 behavioral interventions.
- Experience in data collection and analysis.
- Ability to communicate sensitive information effectively.
- Willingness to work in a prison setting and comply with security and confidentiality protocols.

This is a fixed-term contract until 28 February 2027, with potential for extension.
