Job Description:

MAIN PURPOSE:

To develop a means of reviewing complex cases, summarising case histories in general, and specifying in detail patient journeys into AMHIC. To assist in clinically related administration, audit, teaching, research, and project work. To research and create materials for psychological interventions and carry own caseload for individual, low intensity, psychotherapeutic work under close supervision. On a weekly basis, to provide support to qualified clinical psychologists/psychological therapists to support and enhance the psychological care of patients at AMHIC.

Main Duties & Key Responsibilities

Audit/Research

  • Assist in the implementation of complex case reviews, clinical audit, and research projects as directed by the clinical lead or deputies.
  • Assist in clinically related administration relevant to the post.
  • Undertake data collection, analysis, and produce reports and summaries using IT and statistical programs.
  • Conduct searches and summaries of evidence-based literature and research to support qualified staff in delivering evidence-based therapies.

Clinical

  • Undertake psychological assessments using psychometric tools, self-report measures, rating scales, observations, and interviews.
  • Assist in formulating and delivering care plans involving psychological treatment or management under supervision.
  • Assist in coordinating, running, and leading therapeutic groups under supervision.
  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Provide clinical work as required under supervision of a qualified Psychologist.
  • Assist qualified psychologists in delivering specialist applied psychology services.
  • Receive regular clinical supervision from a qualified Psychologist.
  • Provide a flexible service, potentially working outside usual hours and traveling as needed.

Management

  • Assist in designing and implementing service development projects.
  • Attend planning and discussion meetings.

Administration

  • Ensure recorded work is own and maintain high standards of record-keeping and report writing.
  • Work with managers and colleagues to maximize service efficiency.
  • Comply with policies and undertake specific administrative duties.

Teaching/Supervision

  • Receive regular supervision from senior psychologists.
  • Develop skills and contribute to training and support of other staff.
  • Participate in CPD activities to maintain professional standards.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote the service's mission and vision, providing a caring, respectful service, demonstrating HSC values, ensuring safety, complying with policies, and supporting team working and professional conduct.

Experience of working with adults with mental health difficulties for at least 1 year.

First or Upper Second Honours degree or equivalent in psychology, with eligibility for BPS graduate membership.
