Apple Orchard operates five homes across Surrey and West Sussex, each situated in rural areas and providing a homely environment for young males aged 12-18 years. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Psychologist to join our Therapy team, specializing in assessment and intervention for adolescent males engaged in harmful sexual behaviour.

Our goal is to help young people develop insight into their experiences, aiding them in moving beyond their traumatic pasts. We support their journey by establishing clear boundaries, achievable goals, and employing positive reinforcement strategies such as reward charts and free time.

Central to our approach is providing a nurturing environment that meets all basic needs, fostering supportive relationships and positive attachments within a warm, friendly home atmosphere.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Processing and interpreting cognitive and personality assessments under the supervision of a Forensic Psychologist.
  • Supporting documentation and record-keeping related to work with young males.
  • Providing feedback to young people, therapists, and staff as needed.
  • Inputting data, conducting analysis, research, and preparing case summaries and background reports.
Essential Criteria
  • Hold a BSc degree in Psychology, or be working towards an MSc, or have specific Psychometric training.
  • Registered with BPS or HCPC.
  • Willing to engage young people in various activities and support their therapeutic journey.
  • Ability to challenge unacceptable behaviour, set firm boundaries, and meet individual needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow delegated tasks and handovers.
  • Ability to adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to produce well-written reports.
  • Good listening and engagement skills.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience working with teenage boys or challenging behaviour, with a willingness to develop skills further.
  • Access to travel due to the rural location; a driving license is desirable but not essential.
Benefits
  • Company pension
  • Access to Exchange Employee Discount Scheme
  • Wellbeing programmes via Exchange Provision
  • Promotion opportunities
  • Fully funded training for recognized qualifications
