Job description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic assistant psychologist to work in our psychology service in Bucks.

The team currently consists of two part time Consultant Clinical Psychologists one Principal Clinical Psychologist, two part time Senior Clinical Psychologists, one clinical Psychologist, one Assistant Psychologist and an Honorary Assistant in Psychology, all committed to offering an excellent service to the adults with Learning Disabilities and their families and carers with whom we work.

Our psychology services offer Behavioural and Systemic approaches and psychologists also have expertise in using adapted CBT, CAT, EMDR, AMBIT, Attachment Informed approaches and Psychodynamic models of working.

Psychologists working within the Community LD Health Team provide in-reach input to services users from the community who require an inpatient admission for assessment and treatment of their mental health or challenging behaviours.

We are looking for a psychology graduate to support and enhance the psychological care of service users with learning disabilities receiving support from the HPFT Community LD Health Team (CLDHT). This will include adults living in the community. The post holder will undertake psychological assessments and interventions as appropriate under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.

The Trust Learning Disability and Forensic Strategic Business Unit (SBU) provides a variety of specialist services in Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Essex and Norfolk. The Psychological Service plays a major role at all levels of service delivery. We have a strong commitment to personal and continuing professional development and encourage team members to develop specialist expertise which is used to contribute to and/or to lead innovative research and clinical service development initiatives within the SBU and in partnership with other services. We have strong links with two Clinical Psychology Doctoral training courses and have trainees on core and elective placements with us. Members of the service are active in the local SIG, the BPS DCP Faculty of Learning Disability and contribute to teaching, supervising research and marking on the Oxford Doctoral Clinical Psychology Training Course.
