An exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist within the Intellectual Disabilities Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Dorset. The successful candidate will be pivotal in providing high-quality care to children facing mental health challenges. A degree in Psychology and experience with Intellectual Disabilities are key requirements, as well as being a compassionate and adaptable team player.

The Intellectual Disabilities Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (ID CAMHS) in Dorset is staffed by a passionate and dedicated team and is looking for a like-minded Assistant Psychologist to join our team. The successful applicant will be based in both Dorchester and Southbourne, working across Dorset.
This is an excellent opportunity to practice within the challenging yet rewarding area of Intellectual Disability.
Our multi-disciplinary team in Dorchester consists of Clinical Psychologists, Learning Disability Nurses, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, a Consultant Psychiatrist, a Speech & Language Therapist, Support Workers, and administrative staff.
It is essential that you have a 2.1 honours degree or higher in Psychology (or equivalent qualification). Previous experience working with children with Intellectual Disabilities is highly desirable, as well as experience working as an assistant.
You will need to have access to a car.

You will work with children with intellectual disabilities experiencing mental health difficulties and/or presenting with challenging behaviors, their families, schools, carers, and other healthcare professionals within a well-established community team in both East and West Dorset. Duties include assessments, formulations, care plans, behavior management consultation, database management, follow-ups, and assisting with clinical audits under supervision of two Clinical Psychologists.
Employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust covers. Applicants subscribed to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
