Job description

Your new role

As our new Assistant Property Accountant, you will work within our Finance department, reporting to the Group Property Accountant, managing a portfolio of leasehold and freehold properties. Your responsibilities will extend to DFS, Sofology and The Sofa Delivery Company properties.

Fixed Term Contract for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

Offered on a hybrid basis (3 office days, 2 from home.)

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for maintaining the property database and schedules and keeping records accurate and up-to-date as well as providing relevant information to Finance for IFRS16 reporting
  • You will be responsible for making all lease related payments, checking and processing lease and business rates invoices prior to authorising Finance colleagues to make payment in a timely manner. You will thoroughly investigate any discrepancies, and refer to the Group Property Accountant when resolution cannot be made
  • You will be responsible for managing all group property email accounts and be the first point of contact for all landlord/managing agent invoice related queries
  • You will assist the Group Property Accountant in the budgeting and forecasting process
  • You will assist the Group Property Accountant in the completion of balance sheet reconciliations and assist in investigating any discrepancies

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and sometimes under pressure
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise your workload
  • Able to work individually or as part of the team
  • Self-motivated with a proactive attitude
  • Good attention to detail and able to record details accurately
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferable but not essential
