Job summary

L&Q Living is seeking an Assistant Project Quantity Surveyor to support cost control and contractual administration in our Stratford, London operations. The role works closely with Quantity Surveyors to ensure value for money and accurate forecasting within a hybrid working model.

You will measure subcontractor accounts, manage contractor performance, and contribute to cost-saving strategies across projects, reporting to Senior Quantity Surveyors in the Commercial Team.

Qualifications

• Strong numerical ability and data interrogation skills.
• Experience managing principal and subcontractor arrangements and relationships.
• Excellent understanding of contract law and commercial awareness.
• Competent in standard methods of measurement and cost forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Own project financials and ensure contractual entitlements.
• Lead cost control and value-for-money initiatives across workstreams.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to meet programme targets.
• Provide accurate financial forecasting and reporting to senior QS.

Salary:£37,451 per annum to £41,045 per annum (London weighted salary)

Grade:7

Reporting Office: London, Stratford

Persona:Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reportingoffice/working location (hybrid working)

Join our Commercial Team at L&Q:

We are looking for a Commercial Professional with some Quantity Surveying experience to join the Property Services team in the position of Assistant Quantity Surveyor. The Assistant Quantity Surveyors work closely with the Quantity Surveyors andSeniorQuantity Surveyors to ensure cost control and value for money in our operations.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyors are responsible for the financial and contractual administration of workstreams and projects carried out by L&Q, ensuring that general quantity surveying duties are performed to the highest standard and ensuring full contractual and monetary entitlement in the most advantageous terms L&Q.

The postholder will take ownership of the project and workstream to ensure all costs and required contracts are in place. Manage L&Q’s subcontractors and suppliers to always achieve best value to a programme whilst protecting the business contractually and providing accurate financial forecasting. The postholder will be assisting in the implementation of mitigation strategies for immediate implementation of all matters relating to contract and subcontract for review by SeniorQuantity Surveyor.

You will support all Operational Colleagues and all other relevant colleagues to ensure that all significant project issues and correspondence and all necessary contractual processes have been observed.

Candidates will have previous experience of measuring subcontractor accounts and implementing cost control techniques. They will also have experience in managing contractor performance.

Your impact in the role:

• Strong analytical skills and must be highly numerate and data interrogation skills
• Experience of managing principal and subcontractor arrangements and relationships
• Commercial Awareness with good legal/contractual knowledge
• Competent in the use of standard methods of measurement – This should include Schedule of Rates (NHFs)
