Assistant Project Officer (Cycling and Walking) | 8442 | Fixed Term Contract until 30 September 2026 | 37 hours per week | £27,711 to £30,060 per annum (Scale F) | County Hall

This exciting role will support managers and project officers within the Active Travel delivery team, Environment Service. The Assistant Project Officer will assist with delivering externally funded projects.

The role involves providing administration and support for Environment Team services and externally funded projects, including managing budgets, financial data, purchasing, invoicing, communication, and records related to service level agreements, claims, and reports. Creating and maintaining delivery plans, risk registers, and project highlight reports will also be key responsibilities.

The position supports the delivery of Norfolk's walking, wheeling, and cycling strategy to promote a healthier and greener Norfolk by encouraging more walking, cycling, and wheeling. These activities help reduce traffic congestion, improve quality of life, strengthen the economy, and protect the environment.

We seek an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support externally funded projects that enable more cycling, walking, and wheeling in Norfolk. The successful candidate will work effectively within a team to achieve objectives outlined in the Business Plan for services and projects.

The post requires an innovative approach, embracing new working methods, and an enterprising outlook to maximize partnership work, community and business involvement, and securing external funding for Norfolk’s benefit.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Support the delivery of services and projects from concept to implementation
  • Monitor resources, programmes, and budgets
  • Provide information for financial and activity reports and claims
  • Use systems and procedures for service and project delivery
  • Communicate service and project messages effectively
  • Assist in report production and document preparation

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to handle financial information and organize workload.

This is a fixed-term position until September 2026.
