Our team members work vigorously to meet our customers' needs. No two days are the same! Crofton is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our team.
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting Project Managers and other team members in coordinating project activities to ensure cost, schedule, document control, and quality standards are met. Under the direction of the PM, the Assistant Project Manager is expected to undertake tasks across all project phases and aspects, from inception to completion. Responsibilities include assisting in bid document preparation, preparing written estimates based on labor, materials, equipment, and other expenses.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in managing projects from inception to completion.
- Set up projects in multiple software programs, including Fleet Cost & Care, Sage, and HCSS.
- Enter budgets, Schedule of Prices, and prepare invoice templates.
- Assist field staff and subcontractors with access to facilities.
- Prepare and assist with pre-construction meetings and monthly owner meetings as required.
- Review owner contracts and familiarize with terms & conditions. Order Certificates of Insurance & Bonds.
- Distribute all short interval and overall project schedules.
- Ensure subcontractors have the most up-to-date scopes of work.
- Assist PM in developing the overall project schedule.
- Work to obtain necessary permits as requested by the PM.
- Complete evaluations/comparisons of bids, scope reviews, and buyouts as requested.
- Develop and manage a project submittal log and obtain designer approval.
- May climb boom A-Frame or into tanks of barge for routine inspection if needed.
- Travel to and from multiple work sites, including some late, weekend, or out-of-town trips, and sleeping on a rig as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Knowledgeable in accounting/construction.
- Exceptional mathematical skills with a focus on accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite and other management software.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to excel in a high-paced work environment.
- Ability to take instructions from co-workers at any level.

Education/Experience:
- Experience in Fleet Cost & Care, Sage, and HCSS is a plus.
- 3-5 years in heavy marine construction or related field.
- A degree in construction management or cost accounting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 40 pounds at a time.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.
- Exposure to construction and marine site hazards.
- Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Operating machinery and power tools.
- Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Respond to dangerous situations promptly.
- Traverse all areas of the job site in various weather conditions, which may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
