Job description

Assistant Project Manager Opportunity!

Following the allocation of several projects within the South West Water Framework and a growing future workload, I am looking to strengthen the Project Delivery team for this leading contractor with an Assistant Project Manager role.


You will report directly to the Snr Project Manager, working on a single or portfolio of projects, providing support to the Project Managers' general duties.


Projects will include:


  • New Build Water Treatment Plants
  • Upgrades to Existing Plants
  • General Civils and MEICA Contracts

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Design and Project Management team throughout the project lifecycle (Concept design - Handover).
  • Ensure H&S management arrangements and personnel are in place for the duration of the project.
  • Administer the Project Management Plan, ensuring Quality Assurance is incorporated.
  • Manage accountability of internal and external stakeholders regarding programme obligations.
  • Escalate key project issues and risks to the Snr / Project Manager or QS, along with mitigation plans.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement against contractual KPIs.
  • Assist in resource profiling of the project programme and team.
  • Support the Site Manager in look-ahead planning and supply chain progress reporting.

So, what are we looking for?


Experience in delivering Water Treatment Plants is preferred but not essential. Candidates should also have:


  • Educated to HND/HNC level
  • Good knowledge of relevant H&S legislation and duty holder relationships under CDM
  • SMSTS certification
  • IOSH/NEBOSH certification preferred
  • Working towards professional recognition with a chartered body, ideally
