Job description

Job Title:Assistant Project Manager – Group Security (12-month FTC)

Location:Preston Lancashire or Frimley Surrey with national travel when required. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary:Circa £40,000 + depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

• Managing a small project or a defined part of a larger, more complex project (such as a specific work package), or supporting a Project Manager or Head of Project with aspects of a wider programme
• Applying a broad understanding of the business and project context to support successful delivery
• Carrying out project management and project controls activities using established processes, methodologies and toolsets
• Supporting effective project governance and assurance throughout the project lifecycle
• Engaging with and influencing internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of project management and controls practices by capturing, evaluating and sharing good practice

Your skills and experiences:

• APM Project Management Qualification (Foundation level) or equivalent (e.g. PRINCE2 Foundation)
• Experience in a project management or project controls role
• Practical understanding of project management principles and methodologies
• Proven experience of leading a small project and managing the full project lifecycle
• Project management experience within facilities, security or construction would be advantageous but is not essential

The Project Management Team:

This role sits within the Group Security team at Head Office. The successful candidate will take a lead role, bringing essential project management knowledge and experience to ensure its successful delivery. Reporting into the Senior Project Manager, you will join a dynamic and supportive security function within BAE Systems, working closely with key stakeholders across the business. While a background in facilities, security or construction would be advantageous, it is your project management expertise and proven ability to lead projects through the full lifecycle that will make you a valuable member of the team. This fixed-term contract of 12 months offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects and gain valuable experience within a leading organisation.
