Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering major civil infrastructure projects.
  • NEC contract management experience (desirable).
  • Project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM, PMI).
  • Full UK driving licence (driver assessment required).

  • Attend regular stakeholder meetings to monitor pipeline works and coordinate activity.
  • Produce and support monthly progress reports and governance approval papers.
  • Lead procurement activities and monitor NEC contract performance.
  • Manage design interfaces with approved suppliers.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to secure approvals of delivery plans.

Overview

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Location: Portsmouth Region

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (38 hours per week)

The Role

As Assistant Project Manager, you will support the Project Manager in overseeing the delivery of critical pipeline works. You will play a key role in communication, coordination, and governance processes, ensuring successful outcomes across planning, procurement, construction, and project handover. You will also manage ad hoc projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality.

Responsibilities
  • Attend regular stakeholder meetings to monitor pipeline works and coordinate activity.
  • Produce and support monthly progress reports and governance approval papers.
  • Lead procurement activities and monitor NEC contract performance.
  • Manage design interfaces with approved suppliers.
  • Support contract management through CEMAR communication systems.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to secure approvals of delivery plans.
  • Deliver projects to time, cost, and quality, aligned with ODI targets and regulatory allowances.
Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering, project management, design, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering major civil infrastructure projects.
  • NEC contract management experience (desirable).
  • Professional membership (e.g. MICE, APM, PMI).
  • Project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM, PMI).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
