Assistant Project Manager – Role Overview

The Assistant Project Manager role offers a dynamic opportunity to support a nationally significant programme, helping shape solutions for a key public sector client. This role is an ideal entry point into project delivery, providing hands-on experience in managing timelines, tracking key metrics, and maintain insight-rich Power BI reports. You’ll be at the heart of a fast-paced environment where your organisational skills and eye for detail will be valued, making this a rewarding chance to develop project management expertise and influence outcomes that matter.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting Project delivery and ensuring the smooth operation of project tools, systems and records. Additionally, providing support for other project management areas.

The position is ideal for someone with exceptional organisational skills who can work independently to successfully deliver on project deadlines. You will have the confidence to engage professionally with both clients and senior colleagues

You’ll work across the team to support stakeholder engagement, day-to-day operations, and the coordination of project activities. With regular exposure to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, this role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your project delivery expertise.

Assistant Project Manager – Key responsibilities

  • To support management team with the development and delivery of operational objectives.
  • Daily and weekly data management tasks including updating databases, running reports and keeping accurate governance logs.
  • Updating and maintaining the project SharePoint page, templates, and other key documents.
  • Regular communication with Business Operations to monitor project performance.
  • Assisting in preparation of presentations, ad hoc reports and communications.
  • Ensuring that equipment is issued and accounted for across the project.
  • Working with colleagues and stakeholders across the project and wider agency to deliver agreed goals and objectives, being reactive to the needs of the project.
  • Logistical and secretariat support for meetings to enable effective governance of the programme and provide detailed records of decisions.
  • A willingness to attend inspections to observe and learn the NCA (Net capacity Assessment) methodology.
