Job summary

Bimplus is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to oversee the delivery of food retail construction projects across London. You will manage pre-construction through handover, ensuring safety, programme, budget and quality standards.

The role involves refurbishments and fit-outs in supermarkets, convenience stores, and other live retail environments, coordinating site teams, subcontractors, and client representatives while minimising disruption to operations.

• Strong understanding of live food retail refurbishment and fit‑out.
• Experience managing projects within live operational environments.

• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project workstreams.

Responsibilities

• Manage food retail construction projects from inception through to completion and handover.
• Oversee project programmes, budgets, procurement, and resource planning.
• Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Manage works within live trading environments while minimising disruption to operations.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures.
• Chair project meetings and provide regular progress reports.
• Coordinate design information and resolve technical and construction issues.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Manage commissioning, testing, snagging, and final handover processes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role will involve working on a mix of, refurbishment, and fit-out projects within the food retail sector, including supermarkets, convenience stores, and other retail environments.
