Introduction

The Projects Team, within Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team (PMST), maintains the Parliamentary Estate (Commons & Lords) buildings, engineering systems and furnishings to ensure a fully functioning, safe working environment for the many thousands of people for who work in and visit Parliament and ensure the buildings are equipped for the demands of the 21st century.

The Role

Assistant Project Leaders are responsible for supporting the delivery of projects valued between £50,000 and £2 million, escalating issues, queries or concerns to their line manager.

You will be expected to achieve business and project delivery excellence, high customer service and professional standards, and compliance with statutory, regulatory and legislative requirements.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • Pro-actively lead on projects or strands of projects and be the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and consultants
  • Ensure that the project outcomes and requirements are adequately defined
  • Establish and communicate the timescales for the project
  • Develop a comprehensive business case to the required standards and in accordance with House governance procedures
  • Preparing project performance reports
  • Provide monthly financial forecasts
  • Ensure that comprehensive reports are provided to the project owner and/or project board as appropriate

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of how construction/refurbishment/conservation projects are delivered
  • Demonstrable financial and budget management skills
  • Demonstrable experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders at a variety of levels
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively
  • Ability to lead potential risk areas
  • Demonstrable commitment to a work environment of mutual trust and respect, where diversity and inclusion is valued
