Job description

To manage the delivery of designated capital projects from completion of the project brief through detailed design to commissioning and final handover. To provide professional advice and support on Mechanical engineering matters, design standards, technical requirements, and alternative methods of construction and design to achieve optimum cost-effectiveness and design solutions.

To support the Project Engineer Mechanical in managing the UHB statutory estates plant & equipment, including developing a management action plan to address statutory compliance issues.

Fulfil the role of Project Manager, as defined in the Capital Investment Manual, for designated schemes to ensure successful completion according to UHB’s requirements of time, cost, and quality, complying with all mandatory and statutory requirements.

To provide specialised advice on Mechanical engineering matters, assist in feasibility studies and business case development, and offer technical expertise on capital schemes across the Health Board.

Formulate fee bid lists, recommend appointments of external consultants, and manage their performance, ensuring compliance with E.C. procurement requirements.

Consult with Local Authorities and other agencies on planning issues, including submitting and securing planning approvals for capital developments, such as outline and detailed consents and listed building consents.

Authorize Contractor’s financial payments within delegated limits.

Provide regular project reports and technical reports, including project plans that identify impacts on clinical services.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally encouraged to apply.
