You will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of a nationally significant project, designed to improve resilience to drought whilst protecting the environment.

Reporting to the London Water Recycling (LWR) Project Development Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the day-to-day delivery of the project, including managing a multi-disciplinary delivery team (both internally and externally via our Technical Partner);
  • Ensuring outputs meet the required level of safety, quality, time, and costs.
  • Ensuring the project is developed in accordance with the needs of our Water Resource Management Plan, as set out in the “Sponsors’ Requirements”.
  • Helping oversee key fieldwork packages of work.

What you’ll be doing as an Assistant Project Development Manager

  • Ensuring the right outputs are delivered by the technical teams to support the needs of the Development Consent Order (DCO), procurement processes and other regulatory and engagement submissions.
  • Ensure that the project baseline for LWR (scope, schedule, cost estimate and risk assessment) is controlled effectively and updated when required through the Change Management process.
  • Ensuring effective communication and alignment of objectives between the delivery team and Technical Partners.
  • Undertake day-to-day management of the Technical Partners, supporting the Service Manager and commercial team in executing the management of NEC4 contract.
  • Working with colleagues to drive a culture of safety and wellbeing across the SRO portfolio – in accordance with Thames values.
  • Providing the link between Technical Partners and the delivery team.

Base location: Hybrid - Camelford House, 89 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7TP or Clearwater Court in Reading, with expected travel to Mogden STW to meet with our operational teams.

Working pattern or hours: 36 hours per week (fixed term contract 7-9 months).

What you should bring to the role

  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders, whilst maintaining excellent, collaborative relationships.
  • Experience of managing programmes and projects through a DCO or similar complex planning phase is desirable.
  • Experience of managing NEC contracts is desirable.
  • Highly developed communication, collaboration and influencing skills both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • A manager who is self-motivated and comfortable working in a matrix delivery environment
  • Competent with the use of complex IT systems and standard office software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience and the ability to implement and adapt to change.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Engineering, Environmental or Consenting background is desirable.
