Job summary

Sellick Partnership has been exclusively retained to recruit an experienced Assistant Programme Manager for a high-profile national public-sector programme focused on housing, regeneration, public assets and place-based delivery. The role is home based with travel across the North & Midlands and offers a 12-month FTC maternity cover with a salary in the range shown.

You will work across local and central government, manage stakeholders, monitor progress and develop funding programmes.

Qualifications

• Understanding of local and/or central government.
• Strong programme or project management experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Experience on complex programmes with public scrutiny.
• Political awareness to work with senior officers and elected Members.
• Experience across regeneration, housing, economic growth, property/public estate or funding programmes would be valuable.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions and provide constructive challenge.
• Strong risk, performance and resource-management skills.
• Ability to analyse information and communicate complex issues clearly.

Responsibilities

• Developing strong relationships with senior stakeholders across local authorities, combined authorities and central government.
• Supporting and challenging partners to progress existing projects and identify new opportunities.
• Helping identify barriers to delivery, manage risks and find practical ways to move projects forward.
• Monitoring project and programme performance and escalating issues where required.
• Supporting the development and administration of funding programmes.
• Helping councils navigate wider government funding opportunities.
• Working across organisational boundaries to broker relationships and encourage collaboration.
• Producing reports and briefings for senior stakeholders and programme boards.
• Sharing best practice and contributing to continuous improvement across the wider programme.
• Deputising for senior programme colleagues where required.
