Position Title: Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice
Employment Type: Full Time, 9-month, Exempt, Faculty Appointment
Reports To: The Chair of the Criminal Justice Department
Full-Time Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for full-time (9-month), tenure-track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice with a specialization in Criminal Law. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment and tenure home in the Criminal Justice Department, which is ranked first (number one) by the Correctional Officers Organization for supporting careers in criminal justice and corrections and will teach and mentor undergraduate students, engage in scholarly research, and participate in university and professional service. The department seeks candidates who can teach courses in Criminal Law and Procedural Law, as well as courses dealing with the law's application to Criminal Justice and Social Services agencies.
Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly productivity, and a clear research agenda. The department is committed to its strong relationship with community partners through its Community-Based Learning and Internship opportunities and will give preference to candidates with experience in these pedagogical practices.
The position requires teaching (4-4 teaching load, 24 credits per year), research, and service responsibilities. Opportunities to teach in UW-Parkside's Master of Arts in Applied Professional Studies and additional courses in the summer semester may be available for additional compensation depending upon the needs of the Department.
Teach 24 credits (4/4 workload) per academic year (with the exception of designated release and/or reassignment time);
