The School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS) seeks an Assistant Professor in Quantity Surveying at our Edinburgh campus. We welcome applications from candidates with international recognition and expertise in:

• Cost engineering and quantity surveying, including all aspects of pre and post contract activities in the built environment
• Risk Management for Construction
• Cost Control and Circular Economy for sustainability
• Digital Transformation of the Built Environment

Grade 7

Ideal for early career academics or industry practitioners aiming to develop their reputation and academic career, contributing to leadership, collaboration, and supporting the development of the EGIS team. Opportunities for research publication and teaching within the Construction Project Management and Quantity Surveying disciplines are provided.

Grade 8

Suitable for established researchers with a strong reputation, aiming to lead internationally recognized research and contribute to teaching. The role involves leading research, publishing, and supporting the growth of the academic group.

Key Duties:

Grade 7:

• Develop research profile and publish in construction and the built environment

• Innovate in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Supervise students and handle related academic responsibilities

Grade 8:

• Conduct and publish high-quality research

• Occasional visits to other campuses may be required

Qualifications and Experience:

Grade 7:

• Growing track record in quantity surveying or related fields, including professional practice or publications
• Experience in teaching and curriculum development
• Ambition to undertake a PhD and establish as a leading academic

OR

• Early career with recognized publications and research outcomes
• PhD in a relevant discipline, professional memberships, and teaching experience

Grade 8:

• Proven research record in quantity surveying with international publications
• Experience in leading research groups and supervising PhD students
• Strong teaching and industry collaboration skills
