About The Role

The Faculty of Media, Arts and Humanities at the University of Sussex wishes to appoint an Assistant Professor in Digital Media (Education and Scholarship) for a fixed-term position of 12 months from 14 September 2026. This post will contribute to delivering and developing teaching and scholarship in media, communication and journalism in the subject group of Media, Journalism and Cultural Studies.

The successful candidate will possess a completed doctorate (or be about to complete in the next three months) in a relevant academic discipline, have teaching experience and be able to help the growth of Media and Communications scholarship at the University of Sussex.

You will join a flourishing, collegial department with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research on media, and will teach an intellectually ambitious undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. Excellent communication skills and evidence of ability to work productively as part of a friendly, team-oriented department are essential skills for this position.

About You

You will have a doctoral qualification (doctorate or be about to complete in the next three months) in Media and Communications (or an equivalent discipline) with relevant teaching experience. You will have the skills to manage your own workload and at times, support other colleagues. You will communicate clearly with the team, line management, and stakeholders.
