Job description

Stoddart’s are a leading, independent Scottish beef processing company who deliver best quality Scottish beef to our loyal customer base.

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Production Manager to join our abattoir team based in Ayr. In this role you will report to our General Manager and be responsible for ensuring that the production process runs as efficiently as possible. You will ensure that our products meet customer expectations, quality standards and Health & Safety regulations whilst motivating and supporting your team to deliver to the highest standards.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 0730 to 1600.

This position is permanent, fully onsite and with an annual salary of £30,000 to £35,000 depending on experience.

As Assistant Production Manager, your key duties will include:

  • Achieving daily production targets, optimising yield and maintaining product quality
  • Ensuring customer requirements are fulfilled in an efficient and effective order
  • Taking ownership of quality of production in your area and ensuring all activities meet with Company requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
  • Ensuring full traceability of all products, working closely with our Technical and Hygiene teams to deliver a right first time approach
  • Achieving daily and weekly KPI’s, delivering to a high and efficient standard
  • Managing and maintaining a highly motivated and skilled workforce
  • All aspects of being a People Manager

Experience and Skills we are seeking:

  • Previous experience as manager is essential
  • Manager experience gained within the meat industry is advantageous
  • Demonstrable track record for delivering strong results through your team
  • Hands on, motivated and confident
  • Excellent organisation and communication
  • Understanding the need for compliance with a pragmatic approach
