Job summary

Alexander Steele is partnering with a leading manufacturing business in Kent to recruit an Assistant Production Manager for the night shift. You will lead and develop a small on‑shift team to meet production, quality and safety targets while driving continuous improvement on the line.

The role requires strong leadership, hands‑on problem solving and a solid understanding of ERP and production reporting, with experience in FMCG or manufacturing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in manufacturing or FMCG with supervisory or managerial experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards and GMP/HACCP.
• Experience with ERP systems and production reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production activities to meet targets.
• Allocate manpower and resources across lines.
• Minimize downtime through proactive maintenance coordination.
• Drive productivity, waste reduction, and efficiency.
• Record production data and material usage in ERP.
• Monitor KPIs and provide timely reports.
• Ensure data integrity for inventory and traceability.
• Lead and develop the night shift team.
• Enforce GMP, HACCP, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with warehouse and logistics to control inventory variances.

Assistant Production Manager (Nightshift)

Location: Snodland, Kent

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Salary - Up to £45,000 plus shift allowance

Shift Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off (6pm - 6am)

You\'ll be responsible for leading and developing a team on shift to meet production, quality, and safety targets while driving continuous improvement on the line.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production activities to meet planned targets.
• Allocate manpower and resources efficiently across production lines.
• Minimize downtime through proactive coordination with maintenance and quality teams.
• Drive initiatives for productivity improvement, waste reduction, and resource optimization.
• Ensure accurate recording of production data, material usage, and finished goods in ERP systems.
• Monitor key performance indicators (output, efficiency, waste, downtime) and provide timely reports.
• Validate system transactions to maintain data integrity for inventory and traceability.
• Manage material returns and reconciliation at shift end.
• Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to maintain inventory accuracy and reduce variances.
• Enforce compliance with health, safety, and quality standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP).
• Conduct regular safety checks and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Maintain accurate and audit-ready records for production, safety, and quality compliance.
• Ensure SOPs, checklists, and logs are updated and properly stored.
• Lead and motivate the production team to achieve operational goals.

Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or FMCG, including supervisory or managerial roles.
