The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) are part of an exciting project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties in Wirral Schools. The main focus of Mental Health Support Teams are:

  1. To provide support and advice to school staff through consultation and training
  2. To provide evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild-moderate mental health difficulties on a 1-1 or group basis
  3. To support schools in their development of a Whole School Approach to Mental Health

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is passionate about CYP mental health who will work alongside our practitioners, supporting children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems. This post will offer opportunities to experience a range of therapeutic interventions as well as learning the vital role of case management in a supportive and friendly environment. This post will include both office and school-based work (primary and secondary). It is essential that applicants already have experience of working with children & young people. Experience of working in a community based mental health provision is desirable.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Wirral Mental Health Support Team (MHST), providing support to children and young people of primary and secondary school age across Wirral.

Band 4 Assistant Practitioner will work with colleagues in MHST who align closely with the Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Services, education settings and professionals supporting children, young people and their families. The post involves working alongside or under close supervision of trained practitioners within schools, providing information, advice and guidance through consultation, direct work with children and young people and their families and delivering evidence-based interventions as well as supporting schools in developing and implementing a Whole School Approach to Mental Health.

This is a temporary full time position, 12 months maternity cover.
