Job description
Overview

Assistant Cardiac Practitioner Band 4. We are looking for enthusiastic, committed, dynamic individuals to join our team at Manchester Foundation Trust Wythenshawe Hospital who will rotate between sites to provide Cardiac Diagnostic Services both in a large tertiary centre and the community setting.

The department offers a full spectrum of invasive and non-invasive cardiac diagnostic investigations and is committed to developing staff and actively creating new roles for service provision. Responsibilities
  • Under direction, assist qualified Cardiac Physiologists to perform all aspects of non-invasive cardiac diagnostic services and provide some activities in the community.
  • Undertake a range of duties involving direct patient care as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Aware of and assist in meeting the psychological, social, physical and spiritual needs of all patients.
  • Discuss with patients issues relevant to their diagnostic investigations.
  • Actively participate in diagnostic investigations that form part of the patient’s care and treatment plan written by healthcare professionals.
  • Develop new skills to enhance patient diagnosis.
  • Practice a range of non-invasive cardiac procedures and perform first-line interpretations: resting ECG recording and first-line reporting.
  • Multi-modality cardiac arrhythmia monitoring hookup; ambulatory blood pressure monitoring hookup.
  • Patient preparation and physiological monitoring during cardiac and cardiorespiratory exercise tests.
  • Assist in LINQ implants and communication with patients around remote monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate written patient records.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of local and Trust-wide standards of care.
  • Assist in organising the day-to-day running of the service and participate in ongoing quality improvement and risk identification relevant to patient health and social care.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Ability to work under direction with a focus on patient care in non-invasive cardiac diagnostics.
  • Experience with non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures and basic interpretation of results is desirable.
  • Willingness to develop new skills to enhance patient diagnosis and care.
