Job summary

McGaffin Mechanical is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support domestic retrofit projects across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. You will work alongside Project Managers to keep scheduling and sign-off on track, across multiple homes and schemes.

Join a team delivering SEAI Warmer Homes and NI schemes, ensuring quality, safety, and customer satisfaction on live retrofit sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in project coordination or management within construction, retrofit, or related trades.
• Experience expediting materials, equipment, or vendor deliverables.
• Knowledge of inspection, quality control, and safety procedures in construction or mechanical settings.
• Ability to organize logistics (deliveries, inventory, site resources) to keep projects on schedule.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple live sites.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with homeowners, contractors, and scheme bodies.
• Proficiency with office tools (spreadsheets, scheduling software, PM platforms).
• A relevant qualification in construction management, mechanical systems, engineering, or similar preferred.
• Genuine interest in energy efficiency, retrofit, or sustainable technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, scheduling, and milestone tracking across a live pipeline of domestic retrofit installations.
• Maintain accurate, scheme-compliant documentation for each job.
• Expedite materials and equipment, liaise with vendors and subcontractors to keep deliveries on track.
• Assist with site inspections and ensure works meet scheme quality, safety, and compliance standards.
• Coordinate logistics for tools, materials, and site resources across multiple homes.
• Update project reports, attend team meetings, and share ideas to improve retrofit delivery.
• Support a positive customer experience by keeping homeowners informed throughout the process.
