Role: Assistant Planning Manager

Location: Birmingham

We are seeking an Assistant Planning Manager to support our Regions and Public Sector Construction business unit. The role involves projects and bids for both private and public sectors, with values ranging from £30m to over £300m.

The successful candidate will assist in planning and monitoring large, complex projects, from bid to completion, working with our Planning Managers and Project Operations Team to develop and execute project methodologies and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support planning and scheduling in accordance with NEC Contract requirements.
  • Develop project planning strategies with the Project Team.
  • Assist in creating construction methodologies for efficient delivery.
  • Develop project plans, programs, and reports.
  • Provide solutions for project delivery challenges.
  • Report on project progress regularly.
  • Create and update short-term and medium-term programs.
  • Support project controls and dashboard updates.
  • Assist in preparing project reports for leadership.
  • Participate in weekly planning meetings.
  • Review change proposals and assess time impacts.
  • Record delays and production rates for benchmarking.
  • Coordinate with BIM teams for 4D modeling.
  • Help develop team understanding of planning tools and techniques.
Experience & Background:
  • Practical experience with NEC contracts.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and project controls.
  • Understanding of construction methodologies and procurement.
  • Good communication skills and adaptability.
  • High-standard report and diagram production.
  • Experience with Oracle P6, Power BI, and 4D BIM software.
  • Knowledge of various construction contracts and commercial terms.
