Job description

We're looking for an Assistant Planner to join the Southern Planning Team based in our South West Region.

Location: Southampton / Hampshire & surrounding counties

Contract: Permanent

What will you be responsible for?

As an Assistant Planner, you will work with the Pre Construction & Construction Delivery Teams to provide planning support on multiple projects at tender, PCSA, and delivery stages, with project values ranging from £5M to over £120M.

The Assistant Planner will oversee the development and monitoring of project plans to ensure construction schedules are created, updated, and amended according to project requirements.

Your Day-to-day Tasks Will Include
  • Reporting to senior planning team members & project leads within the region, managing integrated programmes that include design, commercial, and construction disciplines.
  • Monitoring tender event schedules (TES) and procurement schedules.
  • Producing site logistics plans, scaffold schedules, and temporary power & water requirements.
  • Identifying programme float and reporting on its status to senior planners and project managers.
  • Considering alternative methods of delivery and assessing potential sequence changes to the critical path.
Who are we looking for?

This role is suitable for candidates with:

  • An understanding of programmes from PCSA through to construction.
  • Operational experience in planning within the construction industry.
  • Basic knowledge of planning techniques and tools, including Asta Powerproject.
  • Familiarity with tender documents, contract documents, and specifications such as JCT, NEC, or bespoke construction contracts.
  • An OND/HND in a relevant subject is desirable, along with professional membership of RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE, or CIBSE.
