Assistant Planner - Southern Planning Team

Location: Southampton / Hampshire & surrounding counties

Contract: Permanent

What will you be responsible for?

As an Assistant Planner, you will work with the Pre Construction & Construction Delivery Teams to support planning on multiple projects at various stages (tender, PCSA, delivery), with project values ranging from £5M to over £120M.

You will oversee the development and monitoring of construction plans to ensure they are created, updated, and amended according to project requirements.

Daily tasks include:

• Reporting to senior planning team members & project leads, managing integrated programmes across disciplines (design, commercial, construction).
• Monitoring tender event schedules (TES) and procurement schedules.
• Producing site logistics plans, scaffold schedules, and temporary power & water requirements.
• Identifying programme float and reporting on its status.
• Considering alternative delivery methods and assessing potential sequence changes to the critical path.

Who are we looking for?

This role is suitable if you have:

• Understanding of programmes from PCSA to construction phases.
• Operational experience in construction planning.
• Basic knowledge of planning techniques and tools like Asta Powerproject.
• Familiarity with tender and contract documents such as JCT, NEC, or bespoke contracts.
• An OND/HND in a relevant subject is desirable; professional membership of RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE, or CIBSE is a plus.
