Job description

We are currently looking for an Assistant People Business Partner to join our People Function within the Corporate group.

This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please note that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.

We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs and can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will require more regular on-site presence.

The People Group plays a key role in developing organisational capability and managing current and predicted people risks to enable organisational development and resourcing needs, aligned with the Agency's vision, priorities, and values.

The People Business Partnering team partners with managers at strategic and operational levels, enabling effective leadership to deliver good business and patient outcomes. They collaborate with People colleagues to deliver and implement the People strategy, ensuring it aligns with Group and agency business plans. They also sit on the SMT for supported groups to ensure people aspects are considered.

What’s the role?

The Assistant People Business Partner will work with the People Business Partner to deliver a business-focused People service that meets the needs of the client area(s) and the wider organisation. They will work in partnership with People team members to manage pay and employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and terms and conditions. They will contribute to strategic People projects and deputise for People Business Partners as required.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with managers at all levels within the client area, developing an in-depth understanding of the organisation’s work.
  2. Provide advice to managers to contribute to effective staff management and governance compliance.
  3. Manage employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance issues.
  4. Partner with managers at a strategic level to challenge constructively and identify opportunities for change and development.
