Job description

Job Title: Assistant Payroll Manager
Contract Type: Temporary (3-Month Contract)
Location: Gloucester Centre
Start Date: May 2025
Pay Rate: £20.98 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  1. Payroll Processing:
    Assist teams with processing various payrolls and provide support to ensure BAU processing continuity during absences. Act as a point of escalation for team managers regarding payroll issues.
  2. Timely and Accurate Payroll:
    Ensure all payroll deadlines are met so that employees are paid accurately and on time in accordance with statutory legislation, employment contracts, and internal audit standards.
  3. Finance Liaison:
    Collaborate with the Finance department to complete monthly payroll reconciliations and serve as the primary contact for queries.
  4. Regulation and Compliance:
    Stay updated on relevant regulations and legislation. Evaluate the impact of any changes and update the wider team and internal policies and processes accordingly.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    Proactively identify and implement improvements across payroll processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  6. Audit Support:
    Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring all requests are handled in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Reporting and Documentation:
    Support the preparation of data for Board reports and KPIs, ensuring data is clear, useful, and accessible. Maintain up-to-date process documentation for internal use and employee guides.
  8. Team Development:
    Coach and develop other members of the payroll team to help them excel in their roles.
  9. Managerial Support:
    Provide support and cover for the Payroll & Pensions Manager as required.
