Assistant Payroll Manager - GL1

£20.98 PAYE or £26.87 UMB

Role Overview: High-skilled payroll professional to support payroll through the new system go-live. Extensive payroll knowledge and experience with new system implementation are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the teams in processing various payrolls and cover BAU processing when needed, such as during absences. Act as a point of escalation for issues with Team Managers.
  2. Ensure all deadlines are met for accurate and timely employee payments, complying with statutory legislation and employment contracts, as well as internal audit standards.
  3. Liaise with Finance to complete monthly payroll reconciliations and serve as the main contact for GL queries.
  4. Stay updated on relevant regulations and legislation, assessing their impact, and updating policies and processes accordingly.
  5. Identify and implement continuous improvements across payroll processes.
  6. Assist with internal and external audits professionally and promptly.
  7. Prepare data for Board reports and KPIs, ensuring clarity and usefulness of data.
  8. Maintain up-to-date process documentation for internal use and employee guides.
  9. Coach and develop payroll team members to enhance their performance.
  10. Update the intranet with payroll information, deadlines, and FAQs.
  11. Support and cover for the Payroll & Pensions Manager when required.
